Shenandoah, I Long to Hear You

(Traditional) 10:15 Concert Version

Based on the American folk song "Shenandoah" and the Virginia fiddle tune "Mountain Hornpipe," this work is for professional or advanced orchestras. It includes motivic development and episodic material in addition to the direct presentation of the familiar themes. The concluding measures combine the fiddle tune and developmental material over a noble brass chorale of the Shenandoah folk melody.

The "Concert" version begins quietly with English horn and strings. Optional choral parts are available.
